On Aug 9, 2018 at 11 am, East Umatilla County RFPD responded to a report of smoke seen off of Highway 204. After arriving on scene it was discovered that there was a tree smoldering because of a duff fire.
A Type 6 engine from EUCRFPD, the Helix Water Tender and the command vehicle responded with four firefighters. They proceeded to dig up the debris and cool the heat sources by putting water on the area. There was no flame.
Thank you to the Oregon Dept of Forestry. They arrived with two Type 6 engines to assist, stay, and make sure there were no more problems.
Working with the different fire crews builds a good rapport between the agencies. They can depend on us and we can depend on them if something big happens.
